After a report this week that suspended Florida defensive lineman Keivonnis Davis was hospitalized following a car accident, Gators head coach Jim McElwain provided more information on the accident.

Davis was involved in a scooter accident and has already had at least two surgeries.

“Guys, I tell you, those scooters,” McElwain said following Florida’s win over Vanderbilt on Saturday. “I was able to go see him. I just really feel for him. He’s beat up pretty good, had a couple surgeries already. Nothing life-threatening. He’s got a long road ahead.”

Davis is one of nine Florida players who remains suspended for a credit card fraud incident. He currently has two charges recommended against him: one for fraud/obtaining property for less than $20,000 and one for possession and use of another person’s credit card without consent.

Davis, a junior, has not played this season due to the suspension.
