Kentucky Wildcats podcast: Catching up with the 1978 national title team

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Members of Kentucky basketball’s 1978 national championship team are back in town this weekend.

Assistant coach Dick Parsons and former greats Jack Givens and Kyle Macy held a press conference at Rupp Arena on Thursday. Following the press conference, we had the chance to catch up with more players from the 1978 team that topped Duke in the national championship.

Host Curtis Burch takes you through those conversations on the latest episode of Wildcat Country, SEC Country’s daily Kentucky podcast.

Among the topics discussed:

  • Macy and Givens share their thoughts on the current Cats.
  • What was it like for former players to see the new facilities?
  • Macy discusses why the 1978 team is so beloved. He also shares a story about helping his team improve from the free throw line.
  • Listen to the press conference with Parsons, Macy and Givens
