Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler discuss Miami Hurricanes during Clemson-Virginia Tech

The Miami Hurricanes are starting to generate more attention with their undefeated 3-0 start heading into their showdown at rival Florida State on Saturday.

The Hurricanes, and that big matchup with the Seminoles, were a point of discussion late in the ABC broadcast of Clemson’s win at Virginia Tech on Saturday night between hosts Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler as well as producer Chris Fallica, a University of Miami grad.

After a look at upcoming ACC games, Herbstreit, Fowler and Fallica had the following conversation about the Hurricanes:

Kirk Herbstreit: “Miami looks good. Did you watch them?”

Chris Fowler: “I did watch them against Duke, yes.”

Kirk Herbstreit: “Their defense looks good. I thought the quarterback, (Malik) Rosier, looked nice.”

Chris Fowler: “Is this the year they finally get the Seminoles?”

Kirk Herbstreit: “You’re starting to see some Mark Richt intangibles and an attitude on that football team. They are playing much more discipline than we’ve seen in recent years.”

(Fowler then asks if producer Fallica, the producer, can answer questions)

Chris Fallica: “It has been coulda, woulda, shoulda the last three years for Miami. Last year they blew a double-digit lead, the year before that a fourth-quarter lead, a double-digit lead the year before that. They are going to be expected to beat Florida State in Tallahassee on Saturday by a lot of people and it’s a team that hasn’t won a big game in a long time.”

Kirk Herbstreit: “But how good did Miami look (on Friday night)?”

Chris Fallica: “They looked good. Their D, like 7 and 12 and 82 and those guys, they look like some old school Miami guys.”

Kirk Herbstreit: “They look like this Clemson defensive line.”

Chris Fallica: “I don’t know about that.”

Kirk Herbstreit: “But I’m just saying, they are starting to look like the way the Miami defensive linemen used to look.”

Chris Fowler:  “I love the turnover chain. That is just a wonderful, wonderful innovation.”

Kirk Herbstreit: “They are more excited about the chain than the turnover.”

Chris Fowler: “I’m more excited about the chain.”

Kirk Herbstreit: “They run a full sprint to get over. Genius by (defensive coordinator) Manny Diaz and the guys.”
