Iowa State basketball has a freshman star in Lindell Wigginton, who etched his name in the Cyclones’ record books Saturday.

With 26 points against Oklahoma in the Iowa State’s massive upset of the Sooners, Wigginton set the school record for 20-point games by a freshman.

The previous record was held by Curtis Stinson, who scored at least 20 points in 8 games in the 2003-04 season.

Wigginton’s career high was 30 points, set against Baylor on January 13. The freshman guard also played a big hand in the Cyclones’ win over Iowa, with 24 points. When he scores at least 20, the Cyclones are 7-2.

What’s even more impressive is that Wigginton is scoring with efficiency. He’s shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from behind the three-point line.

Enjoy game-planning for Wigginton next year, Big 12 teams. He’s only going to get better.
