Live updates: What coach Gus Malzahn said ahead of Auburn’s game against Ole Miss

AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn football has had a good start to the week.

The Tigers throttled No. 24 Mississippi State in their SEC home opener on Saturday. Gus Malzahn’s team moved up slightly in both national polls. Finally, quarterback Jarrett Stidham and defensive lineman Nick Coe were both named SEC Players of the Week for their respective performances against the Bulldogs.

Stidham put together one of the most efficient games in Auburn football history (13-of-16, 264 yards, 2 TDs) — one that brought up former Heisman winner Cam Newton.

As good as Auburn has looked in recent weeks, however, there’s still a lot of football left to play in 2017 and each week presents a new set of challenges now that the Tigers are in the midst of conference play.

Fortunately for Auburn, the Rebels are coming off of a 66-3 loss to No. 1 Alabama in Tuscaloosa. That won’t make traveling to the Plains any easier for Matt Luke’s team.
