Booger McFarland is high on two SEC teams.
On Monday, the ESPN analyst included Alabama and Georgia in his “way too early” top four rankings for the College Football Playoff. Alabama is second and Georgia is fourth. Clemson (first) and Oklahoma (third) round out his rankings.
However, it’s surprising that he has no Big Ten Conference teams listed. (No love for Penn State?) But it’s hard to argue against Alabama’s place within the top four, even if the second-place ranking is somewhat debatable. Georgia’s national profile is rising, especially after a dominant showing against Tennessee last Saturday in Knoxville.
Of course, all these rankings are for fun now. So much remains to be settled on the field. But it’s interesting to consider the possibilities of how the College Football Playoff rankings will shake out soon.
