LOOK: Lonzo Ball hilariously suggests Trae Young keep his own shot

Trae Young’s jump shot has served the former Oklahoma Sooners star well thus far.

After arriving in Norman as a 5-star prospect, Young proceeded to lead the NCAA in points per game (27.4) and assists per game (8.7) en route to becoming the first player in Big 12 history to score at least 800 points during a single regular season.

Much of that success is courtesy of Young’s sharpshooting prowess, as he connected on 118 three-pointers on a 36 percent clip as a freshman.

However, during a recent shooting workout, Young switched things up a bit, imitating former UCLA star one-and-done and current Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball’s shooting form, which has received plenty of criticism throughout the past year and a half.

“He can make it, though,” Young said after imitating Ball’s shooting form from deep. “I don’t know how he does it.”

Although Ball did convert on his college three-point attempts at a slightly higher clip, hitting 41.2 percent of his 194 attempts, Ball’s reputation was never that of a pure shooter, as is the case with Young, which has earned him comparisons to Stephen Curry.

Bearing that in mind, it’s not a surprise that Ball hilariously suggested Young keep his own jump shot.

In many ways, Young’s career thus far has followed a path similar to that of Ball.

Each were All-American prospects coming out of high school, and for better or worse, quickly found themselves under the national spotlight at the collegiate level. And of course, just like Ball, Young has elected to enter the 2018 NBA Draft after just one season, where he’s widely expected to be a top 10 pick.

If Young gets his way, though, he won’t follow suit with Ball’s shooting prowess at the next level, as Ball’s 41.2 percent success rate in college has since dropped to just 31.5 percent during his debut season with the Lakers.

To help assure that doesn’t happen, Young would be wise to keep his own jump shot, or at the least, not attempt to replicate Ball’s jumper.
