The fallout from last week’s FBI findings continues for the Louisville basketball program.
Wednesday, David Johnson, ranked as a 4-star point guard in the Class of 2019 by Scout.com, withdrew his original commitment to play for the Cardinals, according to Jeff Greer of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
Johnson, who attends Trinity High School in Louisville, committed to the Cardinals two weeks ago. However, in the aftermath of an FBI investigation that revealed Louisville arranged for at least one recruit to receive cash in exchange for a commitment to the school, Hall of Fame head basketball coach Rick Pitino was fired, and the Cardinals’ recruiting has taken a major hit.
Johnson is the third Cardinals recruit to back out of his commitment to the school. A pair of 2018 5-star prospects, Anfernee Simons and Courtney Ramey, did so last week.
