Florida lost its starting quarterback for the season on Saturday, as Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio left the game with a left shoulder injury.
After the game Jim McElwain told reporters that Del Rio was done for the season. He had just been named the starting quarterback this week.
“QB Luke Del Rio will be done. He’ll have surgery on Monday,” McElwain said in the post game press conference.
Del Rio was replaced by Feleipe Franks, who has able to lead the Gators to a 38-24 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday. Franks went 10 of 14 for 185 passing yards, while Del Rio went 7 for 11 for 64 yards. Del Rio also led the Gators to a come from behind victory over Kentucky last week.
The injured shoulder was the same one that Del Rio had shoulder surgery on in the off-season.
Florida takes on LSU next Saturday at home. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
