The TCU Horned Frogs placed two players on the 2018 Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list.
The Golden Spikes Award is handed out by USA Baseball to the top amateur baseball player in the country. It’s been awarded since the 2013 season. Jared Janczak and Luken Baker were two of five Big 12 players to make the watch list.
Janczak, a pitcher, has been lights out for the Frogs in recent seasons. The junior righty had 102 strikeouts last season, and held opponents to a .181 batting average against him.
Baker, a junior first baseman, missed the postseason with a wrist injury, but is one of the most feared hitters in the country when he’s at the plate. He batted .317 last season and hit eight home runs.
The Frogs start the year ranked in the Top 10 in every preseason baseball poll. They’re seeking their fifth straight College World Series appearance.
