Mississippi State transfer and Big 12 Tournament MVP Malik Newman is definitely confident that the Jayhawks can score a metric ton of points.
He said, “Any one of our starting five always has a chance to go out and get 20-plus. We’re always capable of it,” according to George Schroeder of USA TODAY Sports.
“My confidence is out the roof right now,” Newman adds.
Newman has had an incredible postseason run. He averaged 24 points per game during the Big 12 Tournament. In Kansas’s first round game against Penn Newman only scored 10, but went off for 28 against 8 seed Seton Hall.
Newman’s 72 total points in the Big 12 Tournament are more than any Kansas player in the history of the tournament.
With Udoka Azubuike finally healthy, the Jayhawks are at nearly full strength at the most important time of the season. As long as Newman keeps up his ridiculous pace, Kansas will be a threat to win the NCAA Tournament.
