According to Mark Cooper of the Tulsa World, Marcell Ateman said that the bobbled third down jump pass from Mason Rudolph was planned.
According to Cooper, Ateman said, “Mason told me, if you get (man-to-man coverage) on this certain play, if you get press coverage, I’m going to come your way.”
The third down play was absolutely crucial to Oklahoma State’s final drive. It set up Mason Rudolph’s 16 yard touchdown run a few plays later, and kept the Cowboy drive alive.
Now, Oklahoma State has a much-needed bye week before they face the winless Baylor Bears in a game they should easily win. They’ll need the time to get healthier and figure out some of their special teams frustrations.
Oklahoma State is still in the hunt to get a conference championship, and potentially a spot in the playoff if a few things break their way. They’ll need to go undefeated from here on out, but with every team remaining in the conference seeming vulnerable in one way or another, it’s not completely out of the question.
