As the Miami Hurricanes gradually return to prominence under Mark Richt, one of their major recruiting goals is to repel invading programs in South Florida and the latest program and player in their crosshairs is the Louisville Cardinals and their 2020 commit Latarie Kinsler.
Kinsler is a 6-foot-4, 212-pound defensive end at Pahokee and he’s currently pledged to join Bobby Petrino at Louisville when his prep career is over. However, with nearly two years until they can secure his signature, they’ll have to fight Miami hard for a player who is in their backyard, according to a report from Chris Person of Rivals.com.
247Sports ranks Kinsler as the No. 96 overall player in the nation in the Class of 2020, and he certainly has the look of a potentially dominant edge rusher if he can fill out that long and athletic frame. So you can expect several other major programs to try to get involved here.
Yet, it’s the Hurricanes that the Cardinals should be most afraid of at the moment because Kinsler seemed elated to get his offer on Friday morning. And if Miami can build a proverbial fence around South Florida and keep as much of the top talent the area produces at home, Louisville will have its hands full with Miami both on the field and off.
