Micah Parsons is one of the most exciting recruits to come to Penn State in years. He’ll be wearing a number familiar to Nittany Lions’ fans.
Parsons will don No. 11 at Penn State — the same number of Nittany Lions legend LaVar Arrington. The jersey numbers of early enrollees in Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class were revealed Friday when the program released an updated roster.
Parsons, who was listed as a defensive end throughout his recruitment, will begin his Penn State career at linebacker. Arrington is arguably the best linebacker in Penn State history. Arrington was a first-team All-American twice in college and won the Bednarik and Butkus Awards during the 1999 season.
Parsons (listed at 6-foot-3, 240 pounds on the roster) wearing No. 11 shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The Harrisburg, Pa. native called Arrington his all-time favorite Penn State player last year.

Parsons, the No. 5 overall recruit in the 2018 class, also drew a comparison to Arrington from former Penn State standout Justin King after he signed his letter of intent.

Penn State fans and James Franklin are hoping Parsons will be able to have a similar career to Arrington during his time in Happy Valley.
