Michigan’s 3-point making walk-on calls out Johnny Manziel after win over Texas A&M

Michigan basketball blitzed Texas A&M from the opening tip with lights-out shooting and never looked back in the Wolverines eventual 99-72 Sweet 16 win on Thursday night.

Even manager-turned-walk-on C.J. Baird got in on the 3-point barrage. In the final minute, Baird launched a deep attempt from the top of the key that rattled through the net, igniting a widespread frenzy among the Michigan faithful and his teammates on the bench.

Afterward, The Ringer’s Mark Titus, himself a former walk-on at Ohio State in the late 2000s, caught up with Baird to talk about his unforgettable March Madness moment. Titus also gave Baird the opportunity to shout out any celebrities around Los Angeles to attend the Wolverines’ Elite 8 matchup with Florida State on Saturday.

Without hesitation, Baird called out of Texas A&M’s most beloved athletes.

“I would say Johnny Manziel, because he bet Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson. I saw them on Twitter,” Baird said. “He’s got to come to our game now. He’s got to roll with us.”

Manziel sought out Patterson on Twitter before the game, and based on this exchange, it looks like Manziel owes Patterson a signed jersey.
