Michigan State rose five spots to No. 6 in the latest Land of 10 Power Poll for the Big Ten on Sunday following its win over Iowa.
The Spartans won, 17-10, at home to get back on track following a loss to Notre Dame the week before. The victory moved them to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. No other team in the poll made as big a jump.
Penn State remained atop the poll after taking down Indiana at home, 45-14. Ohio State continues to hold tight to the No. 2 spot ahead of undefeated Michigan and Wisconsin.
I ranked Michigan State eighth in this poll. I didn’t deem a close home win over an unranked team enough to move the Spartans quite that far up, though I do understand the reasoning. After the fourth-place spot in the conference, things get murky.
Michigan State will hit the road for the first time this season Saturday and take on Michigan at Michigan Stadium. The game will be broadcast at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
