Michigan State’s Miles Bridges hits game-winner vs. Purdue

Miles Bridges just hit arguably the biggest shot of his Michigan State career.

The Spartans’ stellar sophomore hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left to lift No. 4 Michigan State over No. 3 Purdue in a game with No. 1 seed and Big Ten title implications Saturday evening. Here’s video of Bridges’ heroics:

“i was really trying to go to the basket, but they gave me some room so I shot it,” Bridges told ESPN after the game.

Bridges ended the game with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting after a slow start. Michigan State got the left-handed forward the ball after starting the possession with 20 seconds left and no time on the shot clock.

Bridges helped the Spartans overcome a 10-point first-half deficit and hand Purdue its second straight loss. The win also kept Michigan State’s Big Ten title hopes alive. Michigan State and Purdue are both 12-2 in conference play. Ohio State — which has downed both the Spartans and Boilermakers — is 12-1 with a Saturday night game vs. Iowa.
