Mike Boynton sets lofty goal for program

Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton remains optimistic after his team’s NIT quarterfinal loss to Western Kentucky on Wednesday.

Boynton was hired as the Cowboys head coach during a difficult time for the program. Current Illinois coach Brad Underwood left Oklahoma State after guiding the Cowboys for one season, then an FBI investigation was linked to former Oklahoma State assistant Lamont Evans early in Boynton’s tenure.

Boynton was still able to lead Oklahoma State to a 21-15 record and the team tied a single-season mark with 15 home wins this season. The Cowboys coach isn’t done yet, however. According to the Tulsa World, Boynton said his goal is to lead the Cowboys to the NCAA Tournament title game.
