With 4 tackles and a sack against Illinois, Nebraska linebacker Ben Stille won Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Stille’s effort helped the Cornhuskers leave Champaign, Ill. with a 28-6 win on Friday night.

Stille made 3 solo tackles and had 3 tackles for loss, a performance that caught the attention of his teammates. The week before, he had two solo tackles in Nebraska’s 27-17 home win against Rutgers.
“It’s awesome to see someone that young with that much potential shining that early,” nose tackle Mick Stoltenberg said after the Illinois game.
Stille and the Nebraska defense will face a bigger challenge they host Wisconsin this Saturday.
