Nebraska-Rutgers basketball: Time, TV channel, watch online (February 10, 2018)

Nebraska (18-8, 9-4 Big Ten) and Rutgers (12-14, 2-10 Big Ten) meet for the 10th time on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Huskers lead the all-time series 6-3, having won five of the six meetings between the two programs since the Scarlet Knights joined the Big Ten.

Rutgers’ one Big Ten win over Nebraska came during the 2016-17 season. The Scarlet Knights took down the Huskers 65-64. Prior to the Big Ten, the two programs split a home-and-home series in 2006 and 2007. The includes a 63-51 win for Nebraska at the Devaney Center on Dec. 9, 2006.

The only other non-Big Ten meeting between the two came at the 1999 Hoop and Quill Classic in St. Charles, Mo. That matchup ended with a 19-point Rutgers win.

Nebraska-Rutgers basketball preview

The matchup Saturday between Nebraska and Rutgers marks the sixth annual Legends Weekend. The weekend hosts nearly 50 players as they return to Lincoln, Neb., for the weekend’s activities and events. It is highlighted by a reception on Friday, an opportunity to see practice and meet the current Nebraska team. The former Huskers basketball players will also be recognized at halftime during Saturday’s game.

Nebraska comes into the matchup playing some of its best basketball over the last month. The Huskers have won six out of the past seven games. The most recent was a 91-85 win over Minnesota on Tuesday. The win over the Golden Gophers put the Huskers firmly in fourth place in the Big Ten.

Isaiah Roby and James Palmer Jr. had 19 points each against Minnesota, and fivel Huskers finished in double figures. Nebraska shot 51 percent from the field, which included 11 of 23 from 3-point range. The win over Minnesota was Nebraska’s first in Minneapolis since 2003.

As for Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights come into the matchup after a Monday night 65-43 loss to Indiana. Despite being 2-10 in the Big Ten, Rutgers does have home wins over Wisconsin and Iowa. The Scarlet Knights also took Michigan State to overtime in East Lansing and only lost by 2 points to Purdue last weekend.

Junior guard Corey Sanders leads the Rutgers team with 14 points per game. He also had a season-high 31-points in the loss to Purdue. Junior Deshawn Freeman is averaging 11.4 points per game and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game.

As for their defense, the Scarlet Knights are currently holding opponents to 40 percent shooting and only 65.9 points per game. That’s an area Nebraska will have to be ready for against Rutgers on Saturday.
