It didn’t take Nebraska long to get on the scoreboard and grab an early lead on the road against Illinois.
On the game’s opening possession, the Fighting Illini had a five-play drive that ended in a punt. What ensued was an eight-play, 88-yard drive by the Cornhuskers, resulting in a dime from quarterback Tanner Lee and an electric run after catch from wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El.

The 45-yard touchdown marks not only just the longest career reception for Pierson-El, who is a senior, but also the longest completion of the season for Lee.
That's the longest career reception for Pierson-El, and the longest completion for Lee this year. #Huskers

Friday night football couldn’t have started any better for the Cornhuskers, who are coming off a 27-17 win over Rutgers last week.
