NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock breaks down Alabama RB Bo Scarbrough

Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough is an intriguing NFL draft prospect.

From a physical standpoint, he appears more than ready to impose his will in the league, but injuries have recently limited his abilities. He fractured his leg in the Crimson Tide’s 2017 national title game loss to Clemson and was limited in action last spring.

Given the abilities of Jalen Hurts and Damien Harris as runners, Scarbrough ranked third on the team last season with 124 carries, outranked by both Harris (135) and Hurts (154). Harris was the only one to gain 1,000 yards on the ground while Scarbrough had 596.

The junior still opted to take his chances in the 2018 NFL draft, which leaves him exposed to analysts like Mike Mayock of the NFL Network.

He had this to say about the former Alabama running back during a conference call Monday:

Mayock clearly makes a point about Scarbrough’s strength, pointing toward the point he’s likely to test well with good NFL combine numbers.

He also hints at the end of 2016, when Scarbrough had four straight games of 90 yards rushing or more. His best game in that stretch came in the semifinal game when he ran for 180 yards on 19 carries with 2 touchdowns against Washington. If a team watches that tape over and over again, perhaps he can move above the fourth round as Mayock suggests.
