San Diego State went on to win the game 34-28. Penny, who is one of the best running backs in the country, momentarily left the game and returned wearing a visor.
“I just think that stuff shouldn’t happen,” Penny said after the game. “I thought we were all more mature than that, but I bounced back.”
Northern Illinois takes on Kent State next. Penny finished the game with 107 yards on 25 carries and the Aztecs move to No. 19 in the AP Poll.
