Notre Dame moves up to No. 22 in the Coaches Poll after beating Miami-Ohio

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish kept rolling Saturday, beating the Miami (OH) Red Hawks, 52-17. Behind the victory, the Fighting Irish leaped back into the Top 25 in the Amway Coaches Poll at No. 22. The poll was released on Sunday.

Notre Dame was last in the poll at No. 25 after the first full week of the season, but in Week 2, the Fighting Irish fell to Georgia by a point and dropped from the polls. Last week, Notre Dame jumped back into the AP Top 25, but the program was just outside of the top 25 in the Coaches Poll at No. 26 with 100 votes.

Georgia is the only ranked opponent Notre Dame has faced, but against their other competition, the Fighting Irish have absolutely dominated. They beat Temple, Boston College, Michigan State and Miami (OH) by an average of 29.25 points.

On Saturday, just about everything was clicking for the Fighting Irish in their 35-point victory versus the Red Hawks. In the first quarter alone, Notre Dame notched 4 touchdowns – 3 on the ground and 1 through the air.

Two of those rushing touchdowns were long runs from Josh Adams, who moved into 10th place on the Fighting Irish rushing list Saturday. He gained 159 rushing yards on just 8 carries and scored on 73 and 59-yard runs.

Brandon Wimbush was in on the scoring act too, throwing 3 touchdowns and running for another in the victory.

Next week, Notre Dame will hit the road against to face the struggling North Carolina Tar Heels, who are 1-4 after a blowout loss against Georgia Tech on Saturday. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET.
