Closing the door on Florida-Vanderbilt

The Florida Gators moved to 3-0 in SEC play with a 38-24 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday thanks in part to a dominating rushing performance. It was the latest win in what is slowly becoming an ever unpredictable season. But with the win came the troubling news that quarterback Luke Del Rio suffered a season-ending collarbone injury. With that, redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks is back as the starter after being benched for Del Rio in the third quarter against Kentucky.

Florida coach Jim McElwain said the following about Franks:

“Feleipe came in, took care of business. Thought he handled it well. Obviously that drive right before half was huge, and did a good job and we’ll be ready and we’ll get him and Malik [Zaire] ready to roll. Obviously expanding the package with Kadarius [Toney] bit by bit back there as well. That’ll be something that’ll continue as we look and just see how he handles it.”
