Oklahoma picked to face Alabama in CFP in latest bowl projections

Oklahoma is projected to play Alabama in the College Football Playoff in the latest bowl projections from SB Nation’s Jason Kirk.

The Sooners are currently projected to win the Big 12 and finish No. 3 in the CFP committee rankings at the end of the year. They would face No. 2 Alabama in the Rose Bowl, based on those projections.

Here are SB Nation’s projections for the playoff field through Week 5.

  • Championship (Atlanta): Alabama vs. Clemson
  • Sugar (New Orleans): No. 1 Clemson vs. No. 4 Wisconsin
  • Rose (Pasadena, CA): No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 3 Oklahoma

Kirk has Alabama beating Oklahoma to make it to the national championship, but that’s just based on the teams’ rankings at this point in the season.

Oklahoma’s last bowl game against Alabama went very well for the Sooners. They took down the Crimson Tide 45-31 in the 2014 Sugar Bowl.

The Sooners are the only Big 12 team to make the playoff, getting in as the No. 4 seed. This year would be their second trip to the playoff all-time.
