Stay up to date with Oklahoma football recruiting with the latest news and notes and analysis in the daily edition of DieHards’ Wagon Wheels. In this edition, we look at the growing list of spring visitors for the Sooners.
April 14 important date for Oklahoma
Oklahoma did not host any visitors over the weekend, but it’s clear the importance of the Sooners’ spring game on April 14 climbs by the day.
Three more elite recruits have announced they will take official visits to Oklahoma for the spring game. The latest came Sunday when 4-star safety Jamal Morris from Fort Bend Bush High School in Richmond, Texas, announced he will be in Norman that weekend.

Morris attended the Sooners’ junior day on Feb. 17 along with teammate 4-star cornerback Erick Young.
Previously, 4-star wide receiver and one-time Oklahoma commit Arjei Henderson announced he will take his official visit to Norman that weekend. Henderson recently narrowed his potential schools down to three — Oklahoma, Texas A&M and LSU — and expects to make a commitment in the summer.
The Sooners anticipate hosting 4-star defensive end Marcus Stripling from Mayde Creek High School in Houston. Stripling confirmed the visit to reporters at The Opening Houston Regional on Sunday in Katy, Texas.
The Sooners are trying to turn the spring game into a big weekend for out-of-state for prospects who are from beyond a 4-hour drive. Those far five prospects have publicly stated they will be on official visits for the spring game. All of them, including 5-star cornerback Chris Steele (Bellflower, Calif.) and 4-star cornerback Jaden Davis (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) fit that description.
Oklahoma commit Austin Stogner earns invite to Opening Finals
Four-star tight end Austin Stogner (Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas) earned an invitation to The Opening Finals based on his performance at the Houston event on Sunday.
Stogner, who was the first player to commit to the Sooners’ 2019 class, is the No. 102 prospect in the 247Sports composite ranking and the No. 2 tight end in the class.

The Opening Finals will be held June 30-July 3 at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. Thus far, Stogner is only Oklahoma commit to receive an invite. But Henderson also received an invitation on Sunday and 4-star quarterback Spencer Rattler figures to receive an invite to the Elite 11 competition.
More Oklahoma commits and targets will get their shot when The Opening Dallas Regional occurs on April 29 at Euless Trinity High School.
