Front-running tweeters won’t post anything of merit following Elijah Brown’s latest performance.
Brown and Oregon bounced back from an insufficient Los Angeles trip and beat the Arizona State Sun Devils 75-68 on Thursday night. The junior guard led the Ducks with 19 points and 7 rebounds.
“He had a good ballgame,” Oregon coach Dana Altman said of Brown, per ESPN, via the Associated Press. “He didn’t force anything and took the shots we’ve seen him take in practice.
“Just keep it simple. I thought he had a couple really good shots there.”
Altman also cited good rebounding and defense as the factors behind the Pac-12 victory.
“Our formula for this team hasn’t changed much,” Altman said, per ESPN, via the Associated Press. “When we out-rebound people and hold them under 70 [points], our success rate has been pretty high.
“We’ll take it. We did a good job.”
Oregon (18-10) out rebounded Arizona State (19-8) 40-32 and held the Sun Devils to 39 percent shooting. The Ducks’ defense was needed because didn’t shoot the ball much better at 41 percent.
Looking into the not-so-distant future, Oregon’s win over a good Arizona State team will bode well in the eyes of the selection committee. It’s going to be paramount for the Ducks to finish the out the regular season strong and have a good showing in the Pac-12 tournament.
