Before last year, there had never been a national championship rematch in FBS college football history. But this season, the FBS could be headed for a 3-peat matchup between Clemson and Alabama.
While the grudge match to determine which school truly has the best football program might be exciting to fans in Clemson and Tuscaloosa, it doesn’t sound to appealing to ESPN personality Paul Finebaum.
“I don’t think it’s great,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter . “This is not the NBA when we crave for LeBron versus Steph every year and the ratings go up.”
Finebaum joked about himself being a spokesperson for college football fans across the country, but he did say he feels as though the nation would probably rather see someone new such as Oklahoma, Penn State or Georgia. Finebaum also admitted, though, that right now, it really looks like another Clemson-Alabama is very likely.
“Right now, these are the two best teams. And I don’t know if the third team, or the fourth team or the fifth team are really in the same universe right now as Alabama or Clemson.
