No players for Oklahoma or Iowa State were born when Cyclones last beat Sooners

Thanks to the Barstool Oklahoma account’s trash talk for unearthing a ridiculous piece of history.

The official stats on the series are incredible.

Oklahoma has 74 wins to Iowa State’s five, and there have been two ties in the series. Iowa State’s biggest win over Oklahoma was a 13-0 victory in 1928, Oklahoma’s was a 63-0 victory in 1946.

The current win streak Oklahoma is on isn’t the longest in the series, Oklahoma won 23 games over the Cyclones from 1937-1959.

New Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell gave the Sooners fits in his first game against Oklahoma last year. The Cyclones only took a 34-24 loss, and led at one point during the second quarter.

This year’s Oklahoma squad is looking significantly better than last year’s, so that may not be a trend that holds. The Sooners looked shaky against Baylor, but are now rested after a bye week and might run roughshod through the month of October.

November is going to be crunch time for Oklahoma. The Sooners face off against Oklahoma State, TCU, and West Virginia during the last month of the regular season.
