Poll asks for Tennessee fans’ interest level in football season, how’d they respond?

Tennessee’s 41-0 drubbing at the hands of Georgia was an example of a team “defeating” an opponent, rather than simply winning, which was a distinction Alabama coach Nick Saban explained last week.

That kind of outing is certainly enough to take the wind out of any fan base’s sails, and maybe this poll confirms that feeling coming from Knoxville right now.

On Tuesday afternoon, FOX Sports Knoxville posted a poll on Twitter that asked “What’s your level of interest in Tennessee football right now?” There were four different options to choose from.

Out of the four, “Halfway checked out” is winning by a mile at about 60 percent with four hours left. “Still very high” was next at 18 percent, “More focused on drama” is at 13 percent and “Other” has 9 percent.

Of course, there’s still plenty for Tennessee to play for as nothing is decided yet in the SEC East race. However, with losses to Florida and Georgia — 3-0 and 2-0 in SEC play respectively — and a trip to Alabama, it’s definitely a long shot to reach Atlanta.

Houston Nutt still thinks there’s a chance, though, noting that he’s made it to the SEC Championship Game with two (and even three) losses.

In any case, Rocky Top is clearly not pleased with how the 2017 season is going through five games.
