Priority Alabama DB target Kelvin Joseph de-commits from LSU

Alabama-Alabama recruiting-Kelvin Joseph

One of Alabama’s top defensive back targets has reopened his recruitment.

Kelvin Joseph, a 4-star cornerback from Scotlandville Magnet High School (Baton Rouge, La.), has de-committed from LSU after the Tigers’ loss to Troy.

“My love for the school and admiration for the coaching staff has not changed,” Joseph wrote on Twitter. “Though they remain my No. 1 option, I have decided to explore the other opportunities available to me.”

Joseph told SEC Country over the summer that he was going to be paying close attention to how LSU and Alabama played this season. The Tigers have started out 3-2 with two bad losses while Alabama is undefeated and have outscored its past two opponents 125-3.

Joseph, who’s being recruited by Alabama as a safety, has said before that he was close to flipping to the Crimson Tide. He took numerous visits to Tuscaloosa last summer and it appeared a flip was imminent. While he hasn’t visited Tuscaloosa this season, he is expected to visit in the near future. He was expected to be on campus this past weekend but ended up not making it.

Alabama is surely the school to watch moving forward for Joseph, but a return to LSU shouldn’t be ruled out because he lives in Baton Rouge and has a strong relationship with the Tigers coaching staff.
