Last week’s Big 12 slate featured only three games and several members of the Oklahoma State Cowboys defense made the most of the spotlight.
Pitted against a potent Texas Tech offense, Oklahoma State’s defense made key stops at key moments, holding the Red Raiders offense to just 27 points in what ultimately become a 41-34 victory for the Cowboys. As a result four Oklahoma State defenders were named to Pro Football Focus’s Big 12 Defensive Team of the Week — Tre Flowers, Jordan Brailford, Darrion Daniels and DeQuinton Osbourne.

Flowers, a senior safety, headlined this bunch with five tackles, including four solo stops. Defensive end Brailford led the way for what was an imposing effort in the trenches, adding 3 tackles, 1 quarterback hurry and a key interception early in the fourth quarter with Oklahoma State owning a 34-27 lead. On the inside of the line, Daniels and Osborne collectively contributed 6 tackles, four solo tackles, 1 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries.
As a result, the entire unit helped hold Texas Tech’s rushing attack to just 54 yards on 26 attempts, although the Red Raiders did add a pair of touchdowns. The defense held Texas Tech to just 384 yards of total offense.
Flowers and the rest of Oklahoma State’s stout defense will now get to enjoy a bye week before getting back on the field against a winless Baylor squad on Oct. 14.
