Former Mississippi State baseball coach Andy Cannizaro resigned due to revelations of an extramarital affair, according to a report from ESPN’s Ryan McGee.
During an appearance on ESPN’s Outside the Lines with Bob Ley on Thursday afternoon, McGee confirmed what had been rumored about the abrupt resignation from the Bulldogs baseball coach.
Cannizaro resigned due to an extramarital affair with a person within the Bulldogs athletic department.
“I had a wonderful opportunity at Mississippi State, but unfortunately I made some poor decisions,” Cannizaro said in a release announcing his resignation on Tuesday morning. “I hope Mississippi State University and all of the fans and people affected will one day forgive me.”
