Report: Oregon hires recruiting director away from Louisville

According to Kevin Wade of 247sports, Oregon Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal has hired Stephen Field from Louisville to be Oregon’s director of recruiting.

From 247sports:

Field will come to Oregon with a long coaching background in the state of Florida. Before Louisville, Field was the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Florida A&M in 2016 and head football coach of North Marion Senior High in 2014-15. In 2015, Field was named Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Coach of the Year.

In addition to his high school head coaching tenure, Field spent time as a defensive assistant at Miami from 2006-08 recruiting Travis Benjamin, Laron Byrd and Damien Berry to the Hurricanes.

Field would be the second Louisville staffer to join Oregon this offseason with linebacker coach Cort Dennison making the move to Oregon in January.

The addition of Field could certainly strengthen Oregon’s recruiting ties in the south — an area the school will directly compete with former coach Willie Taggart.
