Report: Tennessee safety Todd Kelly Jr. will miss rest of season with knee injury

More rough news out of Knoxville, this time on the injury front.

According to a report from Danny Parker of GoVols247, Tennessee senior safety Todd Kelly Jr. will have season-ending surgery on his left knee.

SEC Country’s Mike Griffith previously reported that Kelly could miss the season with the knee injury that he initially sustained during fall camp prior to the 2016 season. Griffith had said that Kelly Jr. was seeking a second opinion on his injury before going through with the surgery.

Parker reports that the injury is a left knee dislocation and that Kelly Jr. would be eligible for a medical redshirt, which would allow him to play for the Volunteers again in 2018. Or he could enter the NFL Draft.

Kelly did not start Tennessee’s first two games this season and played sparingly in them before being ruled out entirely before the Volunteers traveled to Gainesville to play Florida.
