Jimbo Fisher has gotten off to a strong start in his 2019 recruiting class. And it’s pretty clear he’s building Texas A&M like he built at Florida State. With elite defensive backs.
After already having commitments from 5-star safety Brian Williams and 4-star cornerback Bobby Wolfe, the Aggies landed a commitment from 4-star safety Demani Richardson, according to Brian Perroni of 247Sports.
Richardson is the No. 6 safety in the country and hails from Waxahachie, Texas. He listed at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds. Richardson picked the Aggies despite having offers from the likes of Texas, Ohio State and Alabama.
Texas A&M now has 7 2019 commitments, with Williams being the lone 5-star, and Richardosn and Wolfe being 2 of the 3 4-star commitments.
With the addition of Richardson, the Aggies now have the No. 4 class in the 2019 cycle and the No. 2 class in the SEC, behind only Georgia.
As for the 2018 recruiting cycle, Fisher and Texas A&M had the No. 17 class in the country, which was good for sixth among SEC teams. But it was still an impressive finish, as the Aggies were in the 30s for much of January.
Fisher will make his debut with the Aggies on Sept. 1 when Texas A&M hosts Northwestern State. The next week, the Aggies take on Clemson at home.
