Rutgers’ 56-0 home loss to No. 11 Ohio State got a little sadder at the end.

The Scarlet Knights lined up for a 32-yard field goal with 43 seconds left. The scene wasn’t pretty.

The fans still in attendance undoubtedly hoped they could see their Scarlet Knights finally put a few points on the scoreboard after a horrendous outing against the Buckeyes. And it got even worse when the field goal doinked off the right upright. Ohio State’s 56-0 shutout was preserved in especially sad fashion.

Rutgers coach Chris Ash didn’t have a very good time against his former boss Urban Meyer. Ash is 0-2 against Meyer’s Buckeyes, and hasn’t scored a touchdown in either game.

This was a rough way to end a rough night for Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights get a bye week before traveling to Illinois on Oct. 14. Then more Big Ten East foes will enter the picture. Rutgers was 0-6 against its division last season, and was outscored 288-40.
