Rutgers’ offensive linemen tried curling — it didn’t go too well

Offensive linemen can be surprisingly graceful — just not when you ask then to glide 42-pound stones across ice. Offensive linemen from Rutgers’ football team gave curling a shot this week, but it didn’t go too well for the Scarlet Knights.

A video produced by the Players’ Tribune showed the linemen sliding and sweeping as they tried to master the unique Olympic sport. Watch below:

There was a slippery learning curve for the Scarlet Knights, and they lost their matchup with the Plainfield Curling Club. But it seemed like they had a good time trading in the gridiron for the ice for a day.

“This is a graceful, flexible sport. Though I am both of those things, it doesn’t transfer over to curling,” Rutgers lineman Zack Heeman said.

The USA men’s curling team completed its improbable run to Olympic gold early Saturday morning. While the sport might pick up a bit in America, we’re not sure if anyone on Rutgers’ offensive line will make the 2022 games.
