Consider SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic a big believer in Dan Mullen’s potential to deliver a national title at Florida.
On Thursday, Cubelic said Mullen will claim an SEC championship and a national championship in Gainesville, Fla., as relayed by Mississippi-based radio and podcast host Matt Wyatt. It’s a strong take from Cubelic, who’s surely banking on Mullen’s reputation as a quarterback guru to turn around the Gators’ struggling offense.

Can Mullen win a national title at Florida? Certainly, the resources are available for the former Mississippi State coach to do so at his new school. Still, he must repair a woeful offense that was among the SEC’s most lethargic last season under former coach Jim McElwain.
We’ll see if Mullen can make the Gators a contender. For now, it looks like Georgia will have an opening to control the SEC East for the next few seasons. But it’s easy to envision Florida rising in the division if the Gators can figure out their quarterback situation.
If Florida becomes the nation’s best one day, be sure to remember that Cubelic thought it was possible.
