South Carolina offers 2019 QB Sam Howell

Late last week, South Carolina offered a third Class of 2019 quarterback, 4-star Sam Howell, who’s ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 5 pro-style passer in the country. Overall, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect from Sun Valley High School in Monroe, N.C., is listed No. 212.

Through five games this season, Howell has passed for 1,139 yards with 16 touchdowns and 5 interceptions, per MaxPreps. He’s also rushed for 652 yards and 10 scores.

As a sophomore, Howell threw for 3,217 yards with 38 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He also rushed for 444 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns.

As a freshman, Howell had 3,586 yards passing with 35 touchdowns.

The offer from South Carolina joins a handful of other Power 5 schools, including Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, N.C. State, North Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.

The Gamecocks 2019 quarterback offer list also includes 4-star Garrett Shrader (Charlotte, N.C.) and 3-star Ryan Hilinski (Orange, Calif.).

The following prospects have been confirmed as visitors for the Gamecocks’ home game this Saturday against Arkansas.

  • 4-star LB Dax Hollifield – Shelby, N.C. (official)
  • 3-star S Israel Mukuamu – Bossier City, La. (official) – Florida State commitment
  • 2019 3-star OL Chris Akporoghene – Seymour, Tenn.
  • 2019 4-star DE Ani Izuchukwu – Nashville, Tenn.
  • 2019 4-star T Warren McClendon – Brunswick, Ga.
