The N.C. State Wolfpack are ranked 24th in the Week 6 Amway Coaches poll that was released by USA Today on Sunday.
Five Atlantic Coast Conference teams were listed among the Top 25. With N.C. State moving into the top 25, Florida State (1-2) was one of the schools to drop out of the rankings.
Since opening the season with a 35-28 loss to South Carolina, the Wolfpack have won four straight games. They followed up last week’s win at Florida State with a solid 33-25 win against visiting Syracuse on Saturday.
“It was a good win for our team,” N.C. State coach Dave Doeren told reporters. “It wasn’t pretty in the second half at all, but we got to 2-0 in ACC play, something we haven’t done in 11 years, so we’re happy about that. Defensively, we knew it was going to be tough. They average 35 points per game, and we held them to 25.”
N.C. State received 54 votes in the poll a week earlier, which made the Wolfpack the third team — behind Notre Dame (100 votes) and Duke (93) among the others receiving votes.
N.C. State was even closer to being ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 last week as the top team receiving votes. The Wolfpack had 87 votes.
