Steve Spurrier has a history of delivering the perfect jab or jest at an opposing team. And even though he’s done with coaching, he still found a way to jab LSU.
The Gators and Tigers play on Saturday, and Spurrier was recounting last year’s game with LSU, which was postponed and then moved from Gainesville to Baton Rouge.
Florida went on to win the game and on Wednesday, Spurrier rubbed some salt in the wound of LSU fans.
“They wanted open date before they were going to kick Alabama’s tail, but that didn’t work out for them,” Spurrier said. So the Gators went out there and won a hard fought ball game 16-10,” Spurrier said.

Of course, LSU got shutout by Alabama and then dropped the game to Florida. Despite those reulsts, LSU kept around Ed Orgeron, and promoted him to the full time gig.
LSU has gotten off to a very slow start this year, as the Tigers have already dropped games to Mississippi State and Troy. Florida meanwhile, is unbeaten in SEC play and is favored to beat LSU on Saturday. The two teams kickoff at 3:30 pm in Gainesville, thanks in part to LSU not playing last year’s game in the Swamp.
