Tennessee football podcast: Commit Jackson Lampley’s importance to Class of 2019

Jeremy Pruitt’s first commit in the Class of 2019 likely will be the most important one in laying the groundwork for the class.

Jackson Lampley plays for Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tenn. He’s been committed to the Volunteers for almost two weeks, and don’t expect it to change anytime soon. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound guard is on his way to being the leader of the class.

Most recruiting classes have one or two prospects who take over the class. They set up the group texts with the commits. They also peer-recruit the hardest for the team.

Tennessee has that in Lampley with 10 months until the early signing period.

WMNL’s Josh Ward and SEC Country’s Blake Morgan discuss the importance of Lampley in the class on Rocky Talk in the Friday podcast. The two also dive into the in-state prospects Tennessee might be pursuing in the Class of 2019 and how much of a priority the state will be.

Ward opens the show breaking down Tennessee’s obvious want for another quarterback. The Vols are set to host grad-transfer Keller Chryst from Stanford this weekend. The coaching staff  also hastalked with Gardner Minshew from East Carolina, according to Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman.
