Coach Jeremy Pruitt came to Tennessee with the aspirations of recruiting at the highest level.
He and his staff took some big swings in the 2018 class and had more strikeouts than hits. That hasn’t deterred them from getting in the middle of some high-level recruitments in the 2019 cycle.
The Vols are beginning to trend in the right direction for tackle Wanya Morris. He recently cut his list down to two. Auburn isn’t going to give up in the Morris recruitment until the very end.
Tackle Darnell plans to make a visit to Knoxville this weekend for an unofficial visit, as well. Wright is a 6-foot-6, 290- pound 5-star who would likely make the starting lineup if he signed.
Tennessee wants to add Morris and Wright to go along with 4-star guard commit Jackson Lampley. The trio makes the foundation of a stout, physical offensive line of the future.
This perhaps likely would make recruiting a quarterback easier. The chance to sell an offensive line with these building blocks should have offensive coordinator Tyson Helton excited.
Tennessee’s No. 1 quarterback target right now is Monroe, N.C. native Sam Howell. The 6-1, 217-pound 4-star prospect likely hears about an opportunity to play early every time he talks to Tennessee coaches.
