Tennessee football recruiting: Vols lose commitment from WR Jatavious Harris

Jatavious Harris-Tennessee recruiting-Tennessee-Class of 2018

Tennessee lost its first commitment in over a month on Monday when wide receiver Jatavious Harris opened his recruitment up.

The Milledgeville, Ga., native rates as a 3-star prospect and the No. 113 wide receiver in the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

The de-commitment comes just two days after the most lopsided Tennessee defeat in the history of Neyland Stadium when the Vols lost 41-0 to Georgia.

Harris’ de-commitment drops Tennessee’s total in the class in 22 prospects. The Vols coaching staff had put together one of the best classes in the SEC regardless of the rankings, and Harris won’t change that status too much.

Something to watch from the de-commitment will be if Tennessee can hold onto the other commits from Georgia, specifically cornerback Jayce Horn. Harris played a big role in peer-recruiting Horn to the Vols.

Tennessee still holds wide receiver commitments from Alontae Taylor and Shocky Jacques-Louis. Thought, Jacques-Louis was impressed with his Kentucky official visit and he might be a candidate to open his recruitment up at some point.
