Texas football kicked off spring practice this week, giving fans their first look at what numbers the newest Longhorns will be wearing this season.
The program has updated its official roster for spring practice, adding the names and jersey numbers of its early enrollees for the Class of 2018. Texas pulled in the No. 3 overall class in the country this year, and nine of those recruits are already on campus.
Here are the numbers assigned to Texas’ 2018 early enrollees.
- 3 – QB Cameron Rising
- 4 – CB Anthony Cook
- 7 – S Caden Sterns
- 8 – P Ryan Bujcevski
- 8 – QB Casey Thompson
- 25 – S B.J. Foster
- 40 – LB Ayodele Adeoye
- 58 – OL Mikey Grandy
- 82 – WR Brennan Eagles
The biggest names in that group are 5-star safeties Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster. Sterns’ No. 7 was previously worn by cornerback Antwuan Davis. Foster’s No. 25 was not worn by anyone for Texas last year.
Also of note are the Longhorns’ two quarterback signees: 4-star Cameron Rising and 4- star Casey Thompson. Rising is wearing Armanti Foreman’s old number (No. 3), while Thompson is wearing the No. 8, previously worn by receiver Dorian Leonard.
Four-star corner Anthony Cook takes on the number worn by DeShon Elliott (No. 4), the Longhorns’ best defensive back last year. Four-star linebacker Ayodele Adeoye takes Naashon Hughes’ old number.
Texas will hold its annual spring game Saturday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. CT.
