There may come a day when Bob Stoops once again has a say in the College Football Playoff picture, although it almost surely won’t come as a coach.
Stoops, who surprisingly retired from his longstanding post as the coach of the Oklahoma Sooners in June, isn’t exactly sure where this newfound freedom will take him just yet. Such was evident with Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt, who was asked of his thoughts on Stoops potentially becoming a College Football Playoff committee member at some point in the future.
“You will not find anybody that’s more qualified, better-equipped, more knowledgeable about the game of football than Coach Stoops,” Hocutt told Berry Tramel of NewsOK.com. “The more men like Coach Stoops can be involved with the game, with the selection committee, the stronger it’s going to be become, if that’s something Coach Stoops would consider.
