With their dominating win over the Kansas State Wildcats and Kansas falling on the road to Baylor, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are now the no. 1 team in the Big 12 Conference.
Texas Tech moves to 21-4 overall and 9-3 in conference play with the win. The perennial favorite Kansas Jayhawks are nipping at their heels, however, just a game back in the standings. Texas Tech will still have to play Kansas in Lubbock later in February.
The Red Raiders will also have to play AP Top 25 teams West Virginia in Morgantown and Oklahoma in Lubbock.
In the latest BracketMatrix.com projections, Texas Tech is slated to receive a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament. March Madness is still far in the future for the Red Raiders, though, who could find themselves in the top five of the AP Top 25 on Monday.
