USC reacts to tough trip in Arizona

Arizona wasn’t an accommodating host for USC. The Trojans went winless on their Arizona trip and now find themselves on a three-game losing streak. USC talked about their disappointing excursion following a 81-67 loss to the Wildcats.

“This one we just didn’t keep fighting,” USC guard Jordan McLaughlin said, per  Thuc Nhi Nguyen of The Orange County Register. “That’s all we gotta do, keep fighting all the way until the end and even if we’re not making shots, we gotta keep fighting.”

McLaughlin had 16 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in the defeat.

Arizona guard Rawle Alkinds had a game high 20 points and forward Deandre Ayton added 18.

USC’s six-game winning streak has now spiraled into a three-game losing skid. Their latest loss can be attributed to defense and rebounded. The Wildcats shot 56 perfect from the field and out rebounded USC 40-22.

“Give Arizona credit, they played exceptionally well offensively,” USC coach Andy Enfield said, per Nguyen, “and when we had a chance to stop their runs, we missed some wide open 3s and just some shots that we need to make if you’re going to try to beat a team on their home court like this.”

The Trojans have lost nine straight at the McKale Center. USC hasn’t notched a victory in Tucson since 2008.

USC (17-9) will try to regroup at home against Oregon (16-8) on Thursday.
